A big fat F-U

Sometimes, it really feels like I can't catch a friggin break.

So this weekend, I hosted an academic quiz bowl tournament at my high school. I had no idea what I was getting myself into- I did not realize how much time, energy, and stress it would cause me or I would have never decided to do it in the first place.

First, it was a matter of securing enough workers for the tournament. It seemed like no matter how many emails I sent out to the entire staff, no one wanted to help out. But I get it- why give up your weekend to staff some quiz bowl tournament?

So Sunday evening, I received an email from my co-tournament director, stating that he just discovered that, in more or less words, we may have broken some MSHSAA rules with our tournament. MSHSAA is the entity that basically oversees all high school sports and activities- and they are kind of a big deal. Apparently, there is a rule that if you are hosting a tournament, in order for it to be sanctioned, if you are having any out of state teams attend, you must clear it with MSHSAA 30 days in advance. We had one out of state team in attendance and I did not do that.

So what is the penalty? Not only does this infraction make my team ineligible from competing at Districts and State, it also makes all teams in attendance ineligible. I'm going to have about ten pissed off coaches and teams because I was unaware of this rule.

In addition to that, as soon as I got back to school on Monday, I had pissed off teachers bitching that their classrooms weren't put back the way that they left them. After apologizing profusely and offering to fix their classrooms, they accepted my apology...and then continued to rant and rave to whomever would listen to them in the hallway. So now I feel like half of my coworkers are talking shit about me behind my back.

I asked them to list the issues that they were having in their classrooms, as I checked each room before leaving on Saturday. Apparently, two teachers have RACKS full of dresses in their classrooms. We had to move them out into the hallway because they were becoming a distraction- and as we moved them back in, apparently some hangers became loose and were not hung back up properly. There were also some outlets that had been messed with because we needed extension cords to get the buzzers working properly- and these had not been set up as they had been.

I give up. I feel like no matter what I do, I am always fucking something up and can't ever do anything right.
