I'm finally getting back into the habit of going to the gym and eating right no matter what. It's been somewhat of a struggle lately to get the motivation to drive to the gym (even though it is right down the street) and to eat right, especially while I am working at the Bingo Hall.
(Yes, I'm working at a Bingo Hall right now to help save up for the wedding.)
I have an application on my ipod touch that allows me to set a goal weight and how many pounds I want to lose per week. It then tells me how many calories I am allowed each day, without exercising. If I exercise, I can log it and it adds to my calories that I am allowed to consume for the day.
To lose a pound a week (my goal), I can only consume 1,200 calories a day. If I eat three meals (which I do) that is only 400 calories per meal. I've been getting some great recipes lately- for instance, a 300 calorie breakfast sandwich:
1/2 cup of egg beaters (60 calories)
2 slices of ham (150 calories)
1 bagel thin (110 calories)
The best part: it's very easy and quick to make in the morning. If you know how to use a toaster and a microwave, you are set, and it takes about two minutes to make. Cook the egg beaters in the microwave for the amount of time listed on the carton (I'm too lazy to walk to the refrigerator to read the instructions on the side of the carton).
The tricky part: You want to make sure that you get lean ham. Different types of hams can have completely different calorie counts. I made the mistake of buying a "lean" ham from the deli, which didn't have a calorie count- from now on I am going to get prepackaged meat with the nutritional information posted on the package.
I'm a little apprehensive of this weekend because it's my birthday weekend AND I'm going to a bachelorette party- I just to really be careful about what I am eating this weekend, but if I go over my daily calorie limit, it's not something that I am going to beat myself up over. :)
