Grace is now 7 1/2 months. I cannot believe how big she has gotten!
The first time I saw her:

The first time I really saw her:
And what she looks like now:

Be still, my heart. :)
This month has been a good one for Grace. Every month she has been in the 99th percentile for height, and in the same range for weight. She is such a big girl! However, she didn't change much in weight between her six month and seven month birthday, so maybe she is evening out now? She is mostly wearing 12 month clothing. She does fit in some 6-9 month clothing but not very much at all.
Grace says "mama" and EVERY time she says it, I get a little teary eyed. Drew is a little pissed that she hasn't quite figured out how to say "daddy" yet, but I'm sure when it happens, he's gonna bawl. She is SUCH a daddy's girl, and she has him wrapped around her finger. (And for those of you who know my history with my own father, this is such a big thing for me. I could not ask for a better father for my daughter.)
She is sitting up on her own now, unsupported. Still not crawling yet. A little bit of scooting. When I sing the Little Einsteins song to her, she has this exaggerated wave where she will take her hand and wave it back and forth in the air like she is conducting. I MUST get this on video because it is adorable.
She is also very ticklish. We can tickle her chin, belly, and sometimes even her feet and get some really good belly laughs. She thinks that Kuma (our dog) is the most hilarious thing in the world. When he runs in and out of the room, she laughs so hard!
We are still just on pureed food. A few weeks ago, I tried to give her a kernel of corn and she started gagging/choking and it scared me so bad that I haven't been able to give any solid foods a go, since then.
She is still sleeping through the night. She will go to bed between 6-6:30 and won't wake up until 4:30-5:00 a.m. Routine is key for us. As soon as 6 p.m. hits, she is in the bathtub with her lavender bath time soap, then we get her in her jammies, read her a story, give her a bottle, turn on the sound machine, and she is out for the night.
The only other news to report is that I have been slowly, but surely, losing weight. I've started tracking all of my calories in an app called "Myfitnesspal". It tells you how many calories you need to consume to lose weight, and it even has a barcode scanner so you can quickly input your calories for each meal. It also saves frequently entered foods. I just recently discovered the feature that allows you to add friends, so it's kind of like Facebook in that you can have a community of people who are also trying to lose weight and it posts all of your successes and helps keep you motivated when you get off track. (Like today, I ate four slices of pizza, and when I entered it into my calorie counter...it was not pretty.)
One last thing: I am SO ready for baseball season and the presidential election to be over because that is ALL anyone ever talks about! So tired of the ignorant political posts, especially. Obama is not a Muslim. Seriously.
Gracie is so beautiful!!! I cannot believe how she's growing up- that's great! Things really evened out for us too around 6 months, and growing really slowed down... it is always interesting with those baby stats!
ReplyDeleteIf you do start again with "solids" you can work with gum mashable food -like brown spotted bananas or avacados - a good rule of thumb I learned that I found helpful was never put any solids in their mouths -if they can pick it up on their own - it is a good size... I thought "finger foods" and immediately thought peas - but I read they were a choking hazard unless they could pick up themselves... even the Ped encouraged us to do the Cheerio test - to see if she was ready to progress... just to let her play with them and try to pick them up. Heck it could be a win win for your poochie!
Thanks! We will try bananas and avocado next. :)
ReplyDeleteMan I love that kid... and if you love her this much after just 7.5 months, wait til she's a "big kid." Oh god I can't imagine it. :)
ReplyDeleteYou are both doing awesome and I'm so proud of how you're getting on as a family. Do get the conductor move on video if you can ;) I'd love to see that!
I know I'm way late on this comment - but it was really nice reading updates on Grace! She's so adorable Christina!
