Success

It was difficult, but I managed to continue my weight loss over the Christmas holiday. I've lost approximately four pounds in the past week. How did I do it?

1. "If you can't kill it or grow it, don't eat it." This means no breads, no potatoes, no desserts, no casseroles- literally, I ate meats and veggies. For breakfast and snacks, I ate fruits.

2. Portion control. If a small plate was available, I stuck to that- so I would avoid being tempted to load up on food.

3. Water. Drink it. Lots of it. You will be surprised how less hungry you are when you drink water.

I lost this weight by just dieting alone- I have been avoiding the gym because of the crowds, but I have this entire week off and will try to go during the day when it is less busy. I'm not looking forward to all of the "new years resolutioners" hogging my elliptical. ;)

So what's next after I hit goal weight? I would like to run a 5k in under 27 minutes. After that: a 6k.

I've come to a point where I am tired of constant weight fluctuations as a result of inconsistent diet and exercise. I've seen too many people achieve great weight loss and then gain it all back (and then some) and I think about how hard I have worked and I don't want that to happen to me (again).

My New Years Resolution: Stay healthy in 2011.
