Success

I bought my bridesmaid dress for Nikki's wedding about five or six months ago. When I bought it, it was a size eight and a little too tight (like, I couldn't even zip it up). I didn't bother trying it on again until the wedding- it didn't even occur to me that I might need alterations. I know that I have lost some weight, but not enough to really make a difference.

So imagine my surprise when I put on my dress on Saturday while all of the bridesmaids were getting ready...and the dress was falling off me. Literally, we had to take safety pins and pin in both sides of the dress because it wouldn't stay up. For a minute, I thought I had grabbed the wrong dress, until I checked the label and, sure enough, it was the size 8.

I had to do a silent victory dance at that moment because it is the first time I really noticed the progress that I have been making. NONE of my work pants fit anymore, so I have literally been wearing skirts every day to work, which are pinned at the side so they don't fall off.

It's really weird, because I haven't been noticing the number on the scale changing much. To be completely honest, I haven't weighed myself in a week and a half (last weigh in was about 134). I've had a few set backs (for instance, I gorged myself on gooey butter cookies at Todd and Sarah Ross's party) but I know that if I want to make this weight loss permanent, it has to be a permanent lifestyle change.

  1. dude that is awesome!! you deserve to gorge on cookies every now and then. seriously though, pass on some of your motivation to me? if i keep up at this rate, i'll need a size 78G for your wedding. that's so fat, it doesn't even exist yet :P
    i'm super proud of you!!
